cenozoic era
We are in the Cenozoic dating from 65 million years ago through today. This Era includes the development of large mammals and of human being. It also includes several periods of continental glaciations. It also called Age of Reptiles, a phrase introduced by the 19th century paleontologist Gideon Mantell who viewed it as dominated by reptiles Iguanodon, Megalosaurs, Plesiosaurs. Some major events that happened was the breaking apart of the supercontinent Pangea, the presence of he dinosaurs and the evolution of the conifer trees and mammals. The Cenozoic is divided into Paleogene, Neogene, and Quaternary
